STP (Serenity, Tranquility and Peace) is a psychedelic and a substituted amphetamine that we call today a "designer drug" - it is a man made substance. When used it has mood altering effects and can cause hallucinations. Large doses or continued use can lead to a psychotic state which can include delusions, thought disorders and paranoia. It is correctly referred as DOM on the street and in the black market.
The drug can be found in powder or pill form and taken orally or nasally, like LSD. It can also be dissolved on tablets, sugar cubes, or stamps, or injected. An average dose of tasteless, odourless white crystalline powder is 1-5 mg.
It is typically produced illegally in clandestine laboratories and is rarely pure. Because of this the dosage amount in a capsule or tablet and the quality of the substance is likely to vary considerably. This makes it very risky and unsafe.
Classification
In Australia it is Schedule II under the Drugs Misuse Regulations 1987.
